Guided by osteopathic principles and theory, anatomy and physiology, we aim to get to the ROOT cause of the dysfunction. Our Osteopathic Manual Practitioners are very passionate about wellness and are dedicated to a lifelong journey of learning and mastering their practice. The ultimate goal is to be able to make a real difference in the health and vitality of every person we treat. Our approach to assessment and treatment is holistic, integrative, and effective.
What conditions can a Osteopathic Manual Practitioner Treat?
The symptoms that a patient experiences often occur because of a dysfunction somewhere else in the body. Thus, our Osteopathic Manual Practitioners will search for the cause of the dysfunction and aim to correct it. Sometimes, your Osteopath may be working on body parts far from the site of your symptoms. This allows for the body to naturally self heal and self correct as it reverses the underlying drivers of your pain. Patients typically experience improvements in acute pain, chronic pain, inflammation, stiffness, postural imbalances, mobility, healing time, immunity, sleep, anxiety and overall vitality.
Osteopathic treatment is gentle in nature which makes this approach well suited for all ages. Our Osteopaths can treat a wide variety of musculoskeletal pain conditions. Osteopaths can also address cranial-sacral regions and visceral (organ) connections and increase immunity and lymphatic flow.
What will a visit with an Osteopathic Practitioner look like?
You will receive one-on-one individualized care with your therapist. Your Osteopathic Manual Practitioner will spend time to get to understand your concern and how it is impacting your life. They will thoroughly assess your body and apply hands on manual treatment as indicated. The treatment techniques used by your Roots of Wellness OMP will help to clear up restrictions in the body which will improve communication of all the body systems and ultimately resolve your symptoms. Treatment is safe, gentle and often very relaxing, many clients fall asleep.
What is the difference between Osteopathy vs. Physio or Chiro?
Osteopathic philosophies consider the whole body (ligaments, tendons, fascia, muscle, bones, viscera, blood vessels, lymphatics and nerves) which includes some areas outside of the scope of traditional Physiotherapy or Chiropractic care.
